Alessio Lisci: “We Have to Keep Pushing at Full Intensity and Extend This Momentum”

Osasuna coach Alessio Lisci spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of his side’s match against Elche on Friday, Feb. 13, at Estadio Martínez Valero. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. CET (8 p.m. GMT, 3 p.m. ET).

“The key is to keep going in the same direction, with the same desire, without thinking the job is done because nothing is done,” Lisci said. “There’s still a long way to go and we have to keep pushing at full intensity and extend this momentum as long as possible because, hopefully they won’t come back, but more difficult moments will surely return. The better we are when we get there, the better.”

Lisci stressed the importance of continuing to work hard, noting that last weekend’s result is already in the past.

“We have to keep working — even more than last week — because this doesn’t stop,” he said. “What we did last weekend doesn’t count anymore.”

Asked about the team’s strong form away from home, Lisci acknowledged the difficulty of winning three straight road games in LaLiga but said his side is confident.

“We know winning three consecutive away matches in Primera División is difficult, but we feel good and we’re capable of anything,” he said. “We know we’re facing a great team and we’ll have to play a great match because otherwise it will be very difficult.”

Lisci also praised Elche despite their recent run of results, pointing to the challenges of competing in LaLiga.

“Everyone goes through difficult spells because Primera División is very tough,” he said. “They will probably have Rafa Mir back, who for me is a fundamental player because of the way he plays, and they’ve felt his absence.”

Lisci added that Elche remain a competitive side and warned that they are capable of causing problems.

“I think they’re still doing well,” he said. “They’re a team that bothers everyone despite not getting many wins right now. The other day, at 2-1, they had a very clear one-on-one chance to make it 2-2 and get back into the match. It’s not that they’re losing without competing — they’re competing well against everyone and with their style of play.”
